T-18The captivating, charismatic, and caring, West Philadelphia born and bred Tyrone Smack, AKA TWyse, has endeared thousands of adoring “FAM’s” in his 16+ years of ministry. As one of the first Christian Hip-Hop artists to minister with a full band and singers, his influence onthe genre proves to be unmistakable. As a soul-captivating performer, TWyse has shared the stage with heavy hitters such as Tye Tribbett, Kierra Sheard, Hezekiah Walker, R&B legend Regina Belle, and The Roots. His collaboration with Jeff Bradshaw and Marsha Ambrosius on “Got Til’ It’s Gone,” for the victims of Hurricane Katrina, has been featured on Vh1, Vh1 Soul, and BET Centric. TWyse was also recently featured on Isaac Carree’s chart-topping album entitled “Reset” (Knock Knock), and he was also featured on Canton Jones’ latest mixtape entitled “Love, Drugs, & Gospel” (Woman of God). Going beyond just music, TWyse has also hosted Real Talk; a TV production recorded at the legendary Pastor Donnie McClurkin’s Perfecting Faith Church in NY, which aired on TBN in2014. TWyse’s first indie release WHO IS TWYSE? featured crowd pleasers like “HEAVEN” and “Changed.” Furthermore, his follow-up sophomore album, THE GAME PLAN, featured GRAMMY® nominee and multiple Stellar Award winner, Da’ T.R.U.T.H., on the title song. In 2009, he combined the music of Hillsong with Hip-hop, creating “WorsHip-Hop,” with remixes such as “How Great is Our God,” amassing over 200,000 views! When asked how he describes his title as a music artist, (i.e., Christian rapper, Hip Hop artist, Christian Hip Hop Artist, Recording Artist, Christian Recording Artist), TWyse affirms that rap is a form of art, and art will always be classified based on its content; and his content aims you at Christ. TWyse was influenced early in his childhood, considering how he was surrounded by music growing up. His father introduced him to the likes of The Jackson 5, Prince, and Earth Wind & Fire. He also witnessed his grandmother, a Minister of music for 50 plus years as a pianist, sit down at a piano in random stores, and begin to play and command the attention of the incoming customers. However, it was his tumultuous upbringing that really ignited his passion to become a recording artist, using hip-hop as the vehicle to drive him. TWyse has always had a deep desire to impact the lives of people with the heart of a pastor. God has undoubtedly called him to the Pastorate, and he is far from ashamed to admit that initially, he ran from that call. It is when he stopped running away from God and starting running toward Him, that his life was forever changed. Devoted husband to one, Quiana Smack, and father to three daughters Daijah, Deyonnah and Tyler, and one son, Tyeson, his family is his first and sometimes his only audience. TWyse proclaims, “One thing I’ve learned watching other traveling ministers, is that it can become very easy to miss family functions and not remember what you missed them for. Understanding that makes me very intentional about family time.” As a Youth Pastor, Urban Missionary, and Hip-Hop Artist, TWyse desires to command the audience with his gift and passionately proclaim to them and all others about The Gift Giver.
